mirror, mirror, on the wall
Ikea had a nice simple mirror, but it was painted gold, and everything else in the house is brushed nickel. Nothing a little metallic spray paint can't fix!

turkey's room
And speaking of the old guestroom, it's still coming together as Turkey's room, but we're getting there. The rug we ordered was too small, so back to square one there.
The crib we're going to borrow is still in use, and we'll be using the bassinet for a while anyway. We bought curtains, but need to launder them before they go up. I'm not sure if my little desk will work as a table, but we'll try it for now.
the new guestroom
Since Turkey will be occupying what used to be the guestroom upstairs, the downstairs has become the new guestroom. Still needs a bit of work, but we've made tremendous progress since last weekend.
Thanks again to Chachi and Jon's big guns for wrestling the sofa bed down here last night!

Another glamorous project, crossed off the list:
Paint skylight- Paint hall closet
- Paint window trim
- Paint stairwell
Which means we've* refinished every floor, wall, and ceiling surface on the entire second floor. Whew!
I might actually miss those dings in the wall...
*And by "we", I mean me, Chachi, Mom, Dad, and the fabulous painting crew we hired for these last few bits.

and on Tuesday, the original behemoth of a furnace (which conked out in, oh, April), was replaced with a shiny new model:

Chachi wasn't ever very happy with my jewelry storage solution:
So I found a jewelry cabinet on Overstock and we installed it last weekend. Problem solved, and - bonus - now we have a full-length mirror in the room too.

new windows - part 2
After a few bumps, we have four new, beautiful, energy-efficient, and clean windows - living room, dining room, bedroom, guest room. We also have new to-do items: paint the trim and walls, find new bedroom/guest room curtains.

new windows - part 1
My new friends at SF Window Pros came on Friday to take final measurements and to patch the rotted part of the kitchen window. In two weeks, they will be back to put in four brand spankin' new windows and trim. Can't wait!

tubers for turkey
I couldn't resist. I bought a toy that Turkey won't even use until s/he is at least 2 years old. That's 2.33 years from now. But it's Mr. Potato Head! And his family - Ms. Potato Head, Chip, and Julienne! And they all fit in one giant Potato Head.
Gotta love that Costco...
new and improved
With the arrival of our new chairs, we also welcomed a new floor lamp to the living room. The bookcase has moved to the dining room (at least temporarily) and we rearranged the living room.
