oh wow!

Miles really caught on to this birthday present thing. Every time the doorbell rings now, he thinks it's the mailman bringing another package for him.

sofa update

I would really love to buy a new sofa now, but I'm not sure that's a good idea with a climbing, drooling, sticky-fingered toddler in the house.

So I found a decent slipcover on Overstock.com and roped Mom into sewing new pillowcases.

It will do. Thanks Mom!!

christmas crafty

I recently got addicted to Pinterest, where I found this inspiration:

How hard could it be? The designer himself even says, "How simple and beautiful is that?"

Well, as regular readers of this blog may have noticed, things don't move very quickly around here.

It took me a while to get the balls.

Then I started stringing them on the hanger,

but decided I didn't like the way the clear balls looked, so I took them all off the hanger and returned the clear ones for more brown ones.

The instructions in the original blog call for hot-gluing the caps on and bending the hanger completely into a circle before stringing the balls. Hmmph. I just wanna get this wreath up on the wall.

Well, when I started trying to bend the hanger once all the balls were strung, the balls started popping off, and I was afraid I would break them.

So... I took all the balls off and hot-glued the caps on,

and put them up on a shelf because someone woke up from a nap and needed a snack.

A week or so later, I strung them on the hanger again and finally got the ends of the hanger twisted back together. But, a lot of the hanger was still showing, so I played around with some ribbon, trying to cover it up.

I got it looking ok, but I really needed wider ribbon to hang it on the wall. But then I was busy prepping for Miles' birthday party, and then I was busy prepping for Christmas, and then it was Christmas, and there's no wreath on the wall.

Maybe next year...

"cay-bee car"

Miles almost made it to two without a ride on San Francisco's famous cable car - shame on his parents!
